What is Motorcycle Insurance?

If you actually have a motorcycle and you have the intention to drive it on a public road, most state laws require you to purchase an insurance cover or  some form of “financial responsibility.” This means you can pay if you cause an accident and cause property damage or injuries. Most bikers satisfy financial responsibility laws by purchasing motorcycle insurance to assist them during eventualities or unexpected losses.

It is very important to Note that the motorcycle insurance claims procedure is also similar to car insurance. If your vehicle is damaged or gets stolen, you notify your insurance company and file a claim which must not exceed 30 days from the date the incident took place. The insurance company reviews the incident and decides on the necessary actions

Definition Of Motorcycle Insurance

Motorcycle Insurance: covers damage to your motorcycle if you are involved in an accident with another vehicle.

Motorcycle insurance: This is the type of author protection that covers liabilities, personal injury, collisions, medical bills, and guest passenger liabilities of the insured in the happening of misfortune.

It is the type of insurance cover that benefits motorcycle users and others that is applying on the road. This cover gives you full assurance that you have a second option if a collision occurs destroying your bike or other people’s property.

A motorcycle is defined as a two-wheel land motor vehicle with wheels in tandem (including an attached sidecar) that is designed primarily for use on public roads or (2) a three-wheel land motor vehicle designed primarily for use on public roads.

A standard motorcycle policy will typically cover:

a. Bodily injury liability coverage: This coverage pays for you and your passenger’s medical expenses, regardless of who is at fault for the accident. These medical expenses include hospital and doctor bills.

b. Property damage liability coverage: Your insurance company pays for damages caused by your motorcycle to other people’s property including your own and repositions you in your previous position before the loss.

c. Medical bill payments coverage: Your insurance company pays for you and your passenger’s medical bills regardless of who caused the accident

d. Guest Passenger liability: If you cause an accident while on your motorcycle, this coverage pays for your passenger’s medical expenses. It is very important to understand that the payment of this bill will not be effective if you are not the one that causes the accident.

e. Comprehensive cover: Comprehensive insurance is good to have because it covers a wide range of problems, such as motorcycle theft, vandalism, falling objects (like a tree branch), fire, floods, and hail. It covers damages to your motorcycle not caused by a crash with another vehicle, which includes theft. You’re typically covered up to the actual cash value of your bike.

Finally

Motorcycle insurance shares the same similarities with car insurance: It covers damage to your bike or vehicle, other property, and injuries. If you have car insurance, you’ll notice similar terms for coverage types, including collision, comprehensive, personal liability, and bodily injury liability cover.

It covers bodily injury and property damage that you may cause to other people involved in an accident. It doesn’t cover injury to you or damage to your motorcycle. Guest Passenger Liability, which provides protection in the event that a passenger is injured on your motorcycle, may also be available to you, depending on state laws and the company issuing your policy.

Motorcycle owners are required to have liability coverage in most states, which can help to protect other riders. If you’re at fault for an accident while driving with a passenger, that liability coverage can help pay for your passenger’s medical expenses and your medical expenses as well.
